I'm older now and quite a bit fussier than when I was young with better eyes and at night. I have tried dedicated winter wiper blades from Anco/Trico, installing them just prior to winter and I was still dissapointed in them as winter was ending.īosch Micro Edge Excel's worked quite well but not nearly as well as the new "beam style blades". I bought them for about $10 each when they were on sale along with store coupons and rebates(PB's/AAP).Īny cheap wiper blade IMHO, works well in warmer temps(Spring/Summer) but, when the temps drop and there is snow/ice road salt along with nearing zero temps, this is where I have always had issues with wipers including the more expensive blades.

Kept clean, they work flawlessly IMHO! And their quiet/smooth. No wiper blade is perfect as they can all streak when debris collects along the wiper edge. Other online reviews and articles that I read prior to buying, rated them very good as well. I was told that they're just marketed differently.ĬR Mag rated the tested Latitudes very high, maybe #1 but, IDK, compared to Valeo, Bosch Icon etc. The Latitudes and Repels are the same beam wiper blades according to the Tech Service 1-800 that I spoke with. I bought the Rain-X over other beam style wiper blades due to their price at that time as I beleive beam style wiper blades work better than most other types especially in sub zero temps. SUV's, Mini-Vans, Sedans, Coupes etc.ĭifferent angles of windshields as well as many lengths of wiper blades.17"-28" and all are working well. So, in my circle of family/friends, we have a variety of vehicles using them with good/great succuss. Introduced others to them and their reviews are the same as mine. I bought the Rain-X Latitude and Repel's beam style wiper blades last fall(Sept/Oct) prior to winter for 3 vehicles and loved them on all vehicles. Even if the rubber blade itself were something special, I want better still! I myself, wouldn't consider the Rain-X WeatherBeater blades as they are just another conventional blade design with the "pressure points" in the metal housing/holder. Since the attachment point will not likely be exactly the same as your original equipment blade, be sure to follow the instructions included so you don’t end up breaking the very adapter you might need.Although I haven't tried other types of Rain-X conventional wiper blades, I can't speek for them. There are always exceptions that can make those adapters not quite “universal,” but most blades will fit in the range of 96 to 98 percent of vehicles out there, so in all likelihood an aftermarket blade will easily fit your ride. Most wiper blades come with adapters that allow easy mounting on the variety of wiper arm ends used on various vehicles. AttachmentsĪll the winter-beating technology means nothing if you can’t attach the blade to your vehicle’s wiper arms. Winter blades use very soft rubber covers over the framework that ripples as the wiper moves to break up and shed ice and snow.īeam-type blades already use enclosed framework to hold the wiping surface against the glass, and so are not as likely to freeze up and lift off the windshield as conventional blades, but again winter beam blades are specifically designed to maintain their flexibility and shed ice more readily than their all-season counterparts. The Best Winter Wiper BladesĬonventional wiper blades with exposed framework are very much prone to clogging and freezing in winter conditions, especially if they are metal. You are assured of a clean wipe regardless of. They also remain consistent in all weather conditions. They are also noise-free and streak-free so there will be nothing to distract you when going around the sharp bend. Keep your windshield clear with these options for best winter wiper blades. Expensive wiper blades are better suited to the curved surface of the windshield and provide a better wipe than generic wipers. They also use blade compounds that remain pliable in extremely low temperatures to avoid tearing and cracking, as well as to prevent ice buildup.

This allows the actual wiping surface of the blade to stay in full contact with your windshield for cleaner, clearer vision. Winter blades normally use a very soft rubber covering over the outside of the blade and frame that flexes and ripples with each sweep to prevent ice and snow from building up. Falling snow and slushy road spray will often freeze on your wipers and cause the wiping edge to lift off the glass, allowing large areas of your windshield to be left uncleared, and therefore obstructing your view. If your driving takes you through lots of heavy snow, ice, and slush-laden roads, you may want to consider using specially designed winter wiper blades to help you keep a clearer view when things get messy.
